Shubham IyerEMAE 160 Machine Shop TA
EMAE 160 is the intro manufacturing course, and every student in it machines a hammer from a set of part and assembly drawings. I help run two lab sections of eight students each.
What I do
- Train students on manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, bandsaws and drill presses, and on reading calipers and micrometers.
- Inspect each student's parts against the drawing dimensions and GD&T callouts, and run the final inspection on every finished hammer.
- Keep the lab running: bandsaw blades, coolant, mill and lathe upkeep, and PPE and shop safety.
